Composite electrical insulation materials (DMD Laminates) based on polymer films

Composite materials based on polyester (PET), polyethylenenaphthalate (PEN) and polyimide (PI) films are traditionally applied for the insulation systems of low-voltage machines and traction motors. Composite materials in the form of tapes are applied as a turn and main insulation. Materials delivered in rolls and sheets are suitable for slot and inter-phase insulation. Type of a polymer film applied in the composition of any material determines its thermal class: PET – film is used in “F” class insulation systems (155 °C), polyethylene naphthalate film (PEN) — “H” (180 °C), polyimide film (PI) — “H” and “C” (200 °C).

Pressed laminates:

These composite materials are combination of glass cloth , polymer film and mica. They are produced by pressure method and supplied in sheets . The materials are intended for slot and inter-phase insulation.

This kind of insulation tapes are used as turn and mainwall insulation of low voltage electrical machines and apparatus.
